Overview

Amarnath is the most famous shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is nestled at an altitude of 12,756 feet. Amarnath Cave features an ice stalagmite which grows in size during May to August and gradually wanes thereafter. The main ice Shivalinga is accompanied by two ice lingams, one representing Parvati and other representing Ganesha.

Itinerary

Day 1: Srinagar - Pahalgam

On reaching Srinagar, meet our representative who assists while you take a transfer to Pahalgam. Upon arrival in Pahalgam, take a transfer to the hotel and stay overnight.

Day 2: Pahalgam - Chandanwari - Sheshnag

This morning, leave Pahalgam and start driving towards Chandanwari. Pahalgam is the most popular base for all the treks. Located at an altitude of 2896 meters, Chandanwari is a small valley located at the junction of Sheshnag and Astanmarg. On reaching Chandanwari, start trekking to Sheshnag, located at a distance of around 13 kilometers. En-route special meals will be provided to you. Have your dinner and stay overnight in deluxe tents at Sheshnag.

Day 3: Sheshnag - Panchtarni - Amarnath Cave - Panchtarni

This morning, start your trek to Panchtarni from Sheshnag (3657 meters). The trek covers a walk through Mahagunas Pass (3200 meters), and then gradually reaching to Panchtarni. On reaching Panchtarni, trek to Amarnath Cave which is located at a distance of 6 kilometers.

After reaching, take a bath in Amarnath stream that flows outside the cave. The cave has an air of tranquility where the three massive Lingmas stand symbolizing Lord Shiva, Parvati and Ganesh. Later, start trekking back to Panchtarni. Have your dinner and stay overnight in your deluxe tents which come with complete bedding and hot water bottles.

Day 4: Panchtarni - Chandanwari - Pahalgam

This morning, leave from Panchtarni. Have your lunch at Sheshnag and trek down to Chandanwari. On reaching Chandanwari, head towards Pahalgam. Stay overnight in Pahalgam.

Day 5: Pahalgam - Srinagar

Have your breakfast in the morning and then leave for Srinagar. On reaching Srinagar, check-in at your hotel/ houseboat. Begin the day with a sightseeing tour of Srinagar. Visit the famous Mughal Gardens of Srinagar. Visit the famous Nishat Bagh, an abode of pleasure which was built by Asif Khan, brother-in-law of Mughal emperor Jehangir in 1632 A.D. and Shalimar Bagh, an abode of love that was built by Jehangir for his wife Empress Nur Jehan.
Later, visit a carpet weaving factory. After having your lunch, enjoy a Shikara ride on Dal Lake and visit floating and vegetable gardens. Later, get back to your deluxe houseboats. Have your dinner and stay overnight.

Day 6: Depart from Srinagar

This is the last day of the tour. After having your breakfast, take a transfer to Srinagar Airport/ Bus Stand. On reaching connect with your onward journey.

Medical Fitness for Amarnath Yatra
As the pilgrim destination is situated on high altitudes, the health of the Yatris is very important. In case of any health ailment, do not consider to proceed with the strenuous journey. It is advisable to get a thorough check-up by authorized physician around 3 months prior to the date of yatra. Yatris suffering with ailments such as high blood pressure, diabetes, cardiac disease, or similar health issues are advised not to undertake the journey.

Additionally, it is also advised to carry a medical kit along. In the kit make sure you carry all necessary medicines for health issues such as common pains, stomach upsets, ointments, sprain sprays, etc.
Preparation:
Medical certificate is a must before taking the arduous journey. Moreover, the authorities also take care of various preparations like water availability and uninterrupted power supply. The route is also maintained in simplifying the level of arduous religious trail.
Documents during Amarnath Yatra:
It is important to note that the Yatris need to obtain various essential documents ready and submitted to the respective authority to ensure a convenient yatra. Compulsory Health Certificate from the Doctor is to be submitted along with the registration fee at the registration counters. In addition to this, the Yatris also need to acquire the permit that would help in clearing the check points at Domel (via Baltal) and Chandanwari (via Pahalgam).
Foods & Accommodation
Carry some packets of eatables with a long shelf life. Such as biscuits, peanut butter, dry fruits, fruits, chocolates, candies, sugar, chocolate, milk powder, honey, and tinned foods. These eatables will help in keeping the energy level high. It is to be noted that Non-vegetarian food is strictly prohibited.
Routes for Amarnath Yatra
Pahalgam to Amarnath Cave – This is the traditional route to reach the Amarnath Cave. The route from Pahalgam goes via Chandanwari, Pissu Top, Sheshnag, and Panchtarni. Chandanwari is the check point, where the yatris have to present the permit to go further for the religious journey.

Baltal to Amarnath Cave – This is the alternate route opted by yatris to reach the Amarnath Cave. The route goes via Domel and Barari. Dome is the check point, where the yatris have to present the permit to go further for the religious journey.
