Leh – the largest city and the capital of the Kingdom of Ladakh. This region is renowned for its high passes, dramatic mountains, and stunning landscapes, earning it the title of paradise on Earth. Upon arrival, you will have free time to acclimatize to this high-altitude destination, often referred to as India's cold desert. It is essential to take this time to adjust to the altitude before embarking on further adventures.
Explore the City of Leh Visit Shanti Stupa: This peace seat of Japanese Buddhists was inaugurated by the Dalai Lama and offers stunning views of the surrounding landscape. Magnetic Hill: Experience the fascinating phenomenon where vehicles appear to roll uphill against gravity. Pathar Sahib Gurudwara: A revered Sikh shrine that commemorates the visit of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. Indus-Zanskar Sangam: Witness the breathtaking confluence of the Indus and Zanskar rivers, a sight that showcases nature's beauty. Leh Palace: Explore this historic palace that offers insights into the region's royal heritage and panoramic views of Leh. Morning Drive to Nubra Valley We begin our journey to Nubra Valley, also known as Dumra, located to the north of Leh. This stunning region is accessible via the Khardung La Pass, one of the highest motorable roads in the world, standing at an impressive height of 5,359 meters. Diskit Monastery: Upon reaching Khardung La, we will drive to Diskit Monastery, the oldest and largest Gompa in Nubra Valley. This monastery is renowned for its beautiful architecture, intricate frescoes, and wall paintings. Future Buddha: Next, we will visit the Future Buddha, a magnificent 108-foot statue of Lord Buddha that stands as a symbol of peace and spirituality. Hunder Sand Dunes: Our adventure continues at the Hunder Sand Dunes, a popular tourist destination celebrated for its unique beauty and thrilling activities such as sandboarding and camel safaris. Here, you can enjoy a sand dune safari and take in the breathtaking views. Scenic Drive: As we pass by the Shyok River, we will arrive at Nubra Valley, known for its pristine natural beauty, stunning lakes, and apricot orchards. This spectacular valley is also famous for its Bactrian camels and opportunities for quad biking. If time permits, you can enjoy these activities at your own expense.
Today we do excursion to Turtuk Village. The landscape, culture, language, clothing, and even the physical features of people change quite drastically crossing over into Turtuk, technically entering Baltistan region. It is the Indian-administered part of Baltistan region. In 1971 war Indian army captured this village and it is the last village in Ladakh near LOC. It is also one of the gateways to the Siachen Glacier.Later also visit Thang Village (subject to operation) - A small village in the Leh district. We also take a photo stop at LOC Point.In the evening return back to Nubra Valley.
Travel to Pangong Tso We will travel to Pangong Tso, the most popular lake in the Ladakh region. Situated at a high altitude of approximately 4,225 meters (13,862 feet), this stunning lake is renowned for its mesmerizing colors, which shift from shades of blue to green throughout the day. Water Characteristics: The brackish water of Pangong Tso has very low micro-vegetation and is devoid of aquatic life. However, it serves as an important breeding ground for a variety of birds, including several migratory species. Geographical Stretch: The lake stretches for more than 134 kilometers, extending from China and Tibet into India. Overnight Stay: We will spend the night at Pangong, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the breathtaking beauty of this unique landscape.
Morning we proceed to Leh. On arrival visit Shey Palace – which was used as a summer retreat by the kings of Ladakh. Also view the Indus River, Hemis Gompa, and Rancho School (Subject to Operation).
